Doing what it takes, that's commitment. Rolling up our sleeves, putting our backs into it, going the extra mile and giving it our all. Making it happen. How many colloquial phrases have we invented to measure the grit and energy required to reach our goals?
In moments of Zen, we remember that life's about the journey, not the destination. On the other hand, success is a pragmatic concept. We have to finish the job and do it right. In my work, creativity and communication are pointless without a fire in the belly that urges us on, to build and grow, to do more and be better than we were yesterday.
Commitment isn't about control or willpower, or even strength or stamina. It's about desire. When all else fails, desire masters the mountain and delights in the view from the top. Now, that's a journey worth living every day.
